Finances

Amnesty International is politically and financially independent of any government, political ideology, economic interest or religion. Our governance, programmes and policies are non-partisan, independent of specific governments, political parties and the business sector.

Although we do occasionally seek funding from government and corporations, we only accept these funds if they are free to be used without compromising our aims and principles.

Most of our funding depends on the contributions of our membership and fundraising activities. To safeguard the independence of the organisation, all contributors are strictly controlled by guidelines laid down by the International Council.

International Secretariat accounts

Amnesty UK is one of over 50 national sections around the world. All of us are guided in our work by the International Secretariat, our research headquarters.
