Vigil for Troy Davis

Date: Wed 21 September 2011

We are devastated to hear that Troy Davis has been denied clemency by the georgia State Board of Paroles and Pardons - despite far-reaching and high-level international support for his execution to be halted.

Should the execution go ahead as planned, we will meet for a candlelit vigil at the US embassy in London at Grosvenor Square.

The vigil will commence at 10pm outside the embassy building, and finish at midnight: 7pm Georgia time, when Troy's execution will take place.

If you plan on coming along to the vigil, please bear a few things in mind:

  • Wear warm clothing.
We will be standing outside for a couple of hours late at night.

  • Think about transport.
If you plan on staying until the end of the vigil at midnight, we advise you plan your journey home in advance. The last tube will depart from Green Park station at 12.23am, and Bond Street station at 12.30am.
