Arrest for corrupt payments related to BAE sales
A BAE middleman has been arrested and held, charged with conspiring to make corrupt payments to promote the sale of fighter planes to Austria, Czech Republic and Hungary. The Attorney General, Lady Scotland, has not yet allowed the case to go ahead because a bribery bill is going through parliament but has not yet become law.
Update: BAE admits guilt over corrupt arms deals says this Guardian article dated 6 Feb. 2010. You can also read about the sale of a military air traffic control system to Tanzania; when Robin Cook and Claire Short were cabinet ministers they tried to stop the sale but it went ahead.
