BBC Newsnight looks at international justice
This week on Newsnight on BBC 2 there are features on international justice. Last night's programme included an interview about the International Criminal Court in the Hague. See the Amnesty media team's blog on Lubanga being brought to trial at that court.
Update: How far people are guilty if they have been forced into joining an army and killing people? On Tuesday evening on Newsnight this question was asked for the Ugandans who became involved when they were children in the Lord's Resistance Army. Leading members of that organisation are wanted to stand trial at the International Criminal Court. Interviewed on Monday's Newsnight the Chief Prosecutor of that court said that his policy was to go for the most senior people, those who bear the most responsibility for war crimes.
Our blogs are written by Amnesty International staff, volunteers and other interested individuals, to encourage debate around human rights issues. They do not necessarily represent the views of Amnesty International.
