Crisis in Darfur, Sudan
Amnesty gives details about the crisis in Darfur. Amnesty says there that the government of Sudan is reluctant to allow any outside forces into Darfur and on page 24 of today's Independent there is the headline, "Sudan blocks UN plan for peacekeeping force". The president of Sudan is threatening that Sudan would confront and fight any international forces sent to Darfur.
I visited Khartoum in Sudan in 1987 and it was a very friendly place to be. I do not know much about the crisis in Darfur but I am working on it with the help of Amnesty's web pages. It is already a major humanitarian crisis and the Sudanese government needs to admit that it needs help before it gets any worse.
