EU shares AI's concern for Roma in Serbia

The EU Delegation in Serbia emphasised the utmost need to avoid creation of segregated resettlement of the Roma communities.

On 24 December 2012, the EU Delegation in Serbia made a public statement on their opposition to the resettlement of forcibly evicted Roma into racially segregated settlements. The EU Delegation told the Serbian media that they had made this statement in relation to the concerns of Amnesty International, who had been calling to stop segregated resettlement of Roma. The statement was published on The Delegation of the EU to the Republic of Serbia website, and also sent to Amnesty International and people who filled in the online message action. The statement also said that the final decision on resettlement locations had not been made and that the discussions were continuing.
