Detention of more than 170 Arab speaking citizens in southern regions of Iran
In recent weeks and in an unprecedented act security and intelligence forces have attacked homes and workplaces and detained more than 170 people and transferred them to the notorious Karoon prison. According to family members their loved ones are in danger of torture and ill-treatment. The organisation "Free Political Prisoners" is urging people to send acurate information on the number of detainees and their whereabouts. It also urges the international community especially Amnesty International to press the Islamic Republic of Iran to observe the human rights of its citizens.
