News Alert
Follwing the detention of many journalists and civil society activists which has continued after the June presidential elections in Iran, Jelveh Javaheri women's rights activist and her husband Kaveh Mozafari spent months in prison and later released under increased national and international pressure. Jelveh was later sentenced to 6 months prison for her alleged participation in the 'activites against the regime'.
It is reported that both Jelveh and her husband Kaveh have been summoned to the special court which means they might be sent to prison once again. We urge the international community to increase their efforts to call on the Islamic regime in Iran to stop the persecution, detention and imprisonment of journalists and reporters and civil rights activist.
