the cocktail for success?

So Israels sweetener to Palestinian leader, Mahmoud Abbas ahead of next weeks peace talks are strawberries and armoured personnel carriers it would seem.

Ehud Olmerts move to ease the trade embargo on Gaza by allowing Palestinian farmers to export their strawberries into Israel has been coupled with the transfer of 25 armoured personnel forces, 1000 rifles and 2 million rounds of ammo being sent to the Palestinian Presidents forces in the West Bank.

I never would have mixed weapons and fruit myself but it may just be the right blend to pave the way to a peace agreement in Annapolis next week, and satisfying President Bushs hope of securing a deal between the two parties before his term ends. Another important matter hanging in the balance is the case of 49-year-old African-American Gary Tyler whos been in prison for 33 years in Louisianas notorious Angola prison.

Garys currently serving a life sentence after he was accused of shooting a white 13-year-old boy when he was just 16.  His trial was riddled with flaws and was set during a racially charged time in Louisiana. Amnesty International has considered it to be an unfair trial.  Garys case is expected to be heard before the Louisiana Pardon Board in December. If youre a UB40 fan you probably all about him already as they devoted a song to him. If youre a true aficionado, no doubt you humming the chorus to yourself now.Even if youre not, check out Amnestys action page and send an appeal to Louisianas state authorities, so that Gary has a real opportunity for justice. Til the next time
