Chechnya: Persecuted for Defending Human Rights

Mariat Imaeva will focus on the cases of Oyub Titiev and Natalia Estemirova (it will be 10 years since she was murdered in Chechnya) and the general human rights situation in Chechnya.

Mariat is regional campaigner at AIUK. before joining Amnesty, she worked at the European Human Rights Advocacy Centre, an organisation originally set up to bring cases from Chechnya before the European Court of Human Rights.

She has also worked with Front Line Defenders in Dublin, an organisation focusing on providing support and protection to Human Rights Defenders.
