Immigration Detention

We have been learning more about Campsfield House in nearby Kidlington.  From 1993 to 2019 Campsfield was used as an Immigration Detention Centre.  It is currently undergoing refurbishment and expansion in preparation for reopening as an Immigration Removal Centre.  This is in spite of strong opposition from local politicians and members of the public.

We agree that immigration detention is not the answer to the arrival in the UK of refugees, asylum seekers or other migrants who have come in search of safety and to build a life here.  So, along with our neighbouring Banbury Group and the Central England Network, our Group has joined the Keep Campsfield Closed Campaign.  For further information about this campaign see https://keepcampsfieldclosed.uk/.
