Vigil for Peace
Members of the Chipping Norton Amnesty Group and representatives of the Town Council were this evening joined by some 40 members of the public to hold a silent vigil for peace in Gaza-Israel. This vigil demonstrated our support for the call of the UN General Assembly for a full and immediate humanitarian ceasefire and the restoration of aid to Gaza. It took place on the Town Hall steps in the centre of Chipping Norton, so attracting the attention of evening shoppers and passers-by, some of whom were moved to join the vigil.
Participants agreed that, regrettably, this would prove to be perhaps the first of a series of vigils and other actions to be taken locally to bring people together during what is a difficult and troubling time for many.
