THURSDAY 4 APRIL, 7 pm - 9 pm
at Taylor Road Meeting Room, Taylor Road, Diss, Norfolk, IP22 4BD
Refreshments available on arrival and part way through
We will be sharing three speakers' contributions from a recent AI Central England Network's webinar Israel/Gaza: Impacts, Human Rights, and Routes to Peace. We'll show them one by one with time in between for thoughts and comments
. Dr Samah Jabr from East Jerusalem, Chair of the Mental Health Unit at the Palestinian Ministry of Health on Mental Health Challenges in the Absence of Human Rights in Palestine
. Dr Marwen Darweish, Associate Professor at the Centre for Trust, Peace and Social Relations at Coventry University. Current research focuses on cultural heritage, peace processes, conflict transformation and non-violence resistance.
. Prof Lynn Segal, an Australian born, British based feminist scholar, writer and activist. For over 2 decades she's been involved in a number of Jewish groups working for peace in Israel/Palestine.
Throughout the evening we will also dip into the poetry and writings of Palestinian poet Mosab Abu Toha and his 2022 book Things You May Find Hidden In My Ear: Poems from Gaza published by City Lights. Mosab's book has been selected by Librarians and Archivists with Palestine for their 2024 international reading campaign "One Book, Many Communities." A few of us will gradually read his long poem Palestine A - Z through the course of the evening. We will also share his 5 min video recounting his journey out of Gaza in November '23.
There's no charge for the evening. Of course, we will have a bucket available for donations - which will be split 50:50 between Amnesty International and Medical Aid for Palestinians - but please don't feel under pressure to give a donation if times are hard. However, if you do have any money to spare and you'd like to give a donation, please do.
We do hope you'll be able to join us, we'd love to have your company. Do please drop us a line if you're thinking of coming and if you've any questions, please get in touch.
