PALESTINE HUMAN RIGHTS. Meeting with Sahar Francis, Director of ADDAMEER.
A visit by the Director of Addameer, Sahar Francis, was arranged through Amnesty International (UK) to Britain during February 2013. Addameer is a Palestinian human rights organisation which particularly supports and campaigns for prisoners in administrative detention by the Israeli authorities. Dundee AI Group was able to arrange for her to come to a meeting at Dundee University on Saturday, 16th February, where she spoke about the work of Addameer and the conditions in which prisoners in administrative detention are held, including very restricted contact with their families and no proper trial or information on the reasons for their detention. The meeting was arranged in collaboration with the Tayside Committee for Justice in Palestine and was attended by about 20 people. The event was of particular significance for Dundee Amnesty Group as we recently adopted a Palestinian prisoner, Ahmad Qatamesh as a Prisoner of Conscience and have been campaigning on his behalf.
