Palestine - New Prisoner of Conscience adopted.

Our group have just adopted  a new Prisoner of Conscience. His name is Ahmad Qatamesh. He comes from the Occupied Territories of the Palestinian West Bank. He is currently under "administrative detention" by the Israeli authorities. Under this arrangement, no evidence has been produced against him and he does not know why he is being detained. The Israeli authorities have the power to renew such orders over an indefinite period.  Ahmad  spent the period from 1992 -1998 under this regime. Since then, he has been free until last year when he was again imprisoned. As far as Amnesty are aware, he has committed no crime other than being a political activist.
