August monthly meeting - Thurs 13th - request for cards and paperbacks
Our next monthly meeting will be taking place on Thurs 13th August, next week. All welcome, members old and new!
The meeting is same time and place as usual: Woodlands Methodist Church, 229 Woodlands Road, Glasgow G3 6LW (opposite DRAM!). We meet at 7.30pm in the library, on the ground floor (wheelchair accessible).
As well as coming along ready to discuss the future work of Amnesty in Scotland, prior to a visit in our September meeting from the new Amnesty Scotland director, Naomi McAuliffe, please would people be able to bring along greetings cards (non-religious / non-political) and spare paperbacks (in English ,French or Spanish), as we have been asked send cards with messages of solidarity, and paperbacks if possible, to our 2nd adopted prisoner, Ali Arrass:
"Ali really enjoys receiving the solidarity letters and cards that he is sent. The most he receives are from the UK. Next time you write also send him a paperback book . His address is Ali Aarrass, Prison Locale de Salé 11, Salé, Morocco. As Ali said "It doesn't matter how long it takes for me to be free. Because today, the truth is finally getting out. And it will keep coming out as long as I live. As long as there are others with me, hand in hand fighting injustice." "
If you are unable to attend the meeting it would be great if you could send something from home. If you do send paperbacks would you comment on this post to let us know, please, so we can keep tabs on how many are sent (as apparently not all are getting through, unfortunately)?

Thank you.
