In search of Garnsey's Tower
The Mid Devon group's spring fundraising walk for Amnesty had a good turnout of over 20 keen walkers, tackling a 6-mile circular walk on 22 March from Kentisbeare, taking on Garnsey's Tower on the Blackdown Hills en route. The tower was a shelter in the 19th century for the local whetstone miners, whose lives were hard and often cut short by lung disease.
