We were there at the AIUK AGM and Annual Conference!
Three members of the Minehead Group attended this year's AIUK AGM and Annual Conference at the beginning of April. This year it was held at the East Midlands Conference Centre at the University of Nottingham. As usual we all found it a very busy, informative and inspiring two days. Highlights included: listening to the story of Justine Ijeomah, a Nigerian human rights defender, who lit the Amnesty candle at the opening session; the workshops we attended on Amnesty's campaigning work in relation to Syria, My Body My Rights, and the Human Rights Act; and a panel discussion on front-line work with refugees.
We reported back to our local group members at our April meeting, and two of us visited the Taunton Group in May, to tell them all about it too.
