Poems, Puns ‘n’ Pints - Friday 12th February
Rhyme, rhythm and raucous humour are promised at a Poems, Puns ‘n’ Pints night organised by Sutton Coldfield’s Amnesty International group.
Among the acts already confirmed is Birmingham Poet Laureate Professor Adrian Blackledge plus audience members can also participate in the fun.
The event in the upstairs events room of The Station pub in Sutton Coldfield is free entry with guests asked to make a donation to the group’s work protecting human rights around the world.
It is the fourth time the group has organised Poems, Puns ‘n’ Pints which aims to raise funds for Amnesty International as well as raising awareness of the organisation and its work.
Poems, Puns ‘n’ Pints is on Friday February 12, begins at 8pm and will also feature a raffle. People will be invited to sign a letter calling for the release of the group’s prisoner of conscience Salidzhon Abdurakhmanov who is currently imprisoned in Uzbekistan.
Group chairman Andrew Hindle said: “Our Poems, Puns ‘n’ Pints continues to be popular not just with supporters of Amnesty International but also with people who want an entertaining night out.
“We are grateful to our Birmingham Poet Laureate for joining us and look forward to hearing poems, sketches and music from other contributors.”
The Sutton Coldfield Amnesty International Group meets the second Tuesday of each month (except August) at 8pm at Holy Trinity Roman Catholic Church, Lichfield Street, Sutton Coldfield B74 2NU and newcomers are always welcomed.
