Quiz Raises £500 for Amnesty

More than 60 people battled it out at the annual Sutton Coldfield Amnesty International General Knowledge Quiz.

The event on Friday 28 March at Sutton Coldfield Football Club in Coles Lane raised £500 for Amnesty International which campaigns globally to protect human rights.

Around ten teams took part in the event which was a tightly-run contest with the victorious team winning by just one point.

Sutton Coldfield Amnesty International group chairman and quiz master Andrew Hindle said: “It was great to see so many teams puzzling over the many questions which covered all areas from current affairs to culture and sport to songs.

“We’re grateful to everyone who came along and supported the event. And we look forward to seeing everyone again next year.”

Quiz participants also had the opportunity to support two of the group’s campaigns – backing the families of protesters killed in demonstrations in Juliaca in Peru and opposing the death penalty for two human rights workers in Iran Pakhshan Azizi and Verisheh Moradi.

Sutton Coldfield Amnesty International Group meets at 8pm on the second Tuesday of every month (except August) in the Conference Centre, Holy Trinity Catholic Church, 69 Lichfield Road, Sutton Coldfield, B74 2NU. New members are always given a warm welcome.
