Next meeting, 15 May 2023, 8.00 pm - Special Meeting on Iran (Virtual Meeting)

Our next meeting will take place on Monday 15 May 2023 at 8.00 pm via Zoom (virtual meeting). Please email our Group Secretary for an invite if you wish to join this meeting on zoom.

We are delighted to welcome three speakers on Iran. They will each bring different perspectives on what is really going on in Iran, the cause and nature of protests taking place there and the campaigning in the UK.

Our speakers are:

Elika Ashoori - the daughter of Anoosheh Ashoori.  Elika will talk in particular on the treatment of prisoners there

Dr Mana Nademi - a member of Voice of Iran UK, who will cover other types of human rights abuses there

Nina Navid - member of the AIUK Advocacy Team

All are great supporters of the #womenlifefreedom movement, and will speak very passionately about their desire for democracy in Iran and an end to the appalling atrocities carried out, particularly against women and schoolgirls there.

This is also a great opportunity to find out what actions we can take as Amnesty members, both individually and collectively, and to find out what Amnesty is doing about Iran at the international level.

There will be updates on our group campaigns and we will speak about new urgent actions.
