September 2024 Meeting - now Online only
Our last meeting back in July didn't go as we had hoped as due to technical issues our guest speaker for Libya didn't work out. We shall rearrange for sure. However, all resolutions for the AGM were passed and Nataly gave an update on her case which was interesting.
The news from Gaza is horrendous with now 39,000 Palestinians dead and 10,000 people reported missing, not to mention the catastrophic impact on the residents, particularly children being denied food and medical treatments. We all demand a ceasefire and the release of hostages now.
Our September meeting will be primarily to discuss the Street Collection at Goldsworth Park on Saturday, 21 September. The main thing we need is to ensure we have sufficient collectors for the day. Therefore, we do need to arrange who is available at the following times (we need two people per shift)
10:00 - 11:30 - Steph + 1
11:30 - 13:00 - 2 needed
13:00 - 14:30 - 2 needed
14:30 - 15:00 - Monica + 1
Please let me Steph know asap if you are available to support us. Last year, we did make a bit of money and raise awareness but it was hard work with just one of us on each shift, so hopefully with the two of us, things will be slightly easier.
Arianna Pisetti is now our formal South East Activism Rep. which is great news. She has been in touch and would like to meet up with us in the near future to assist in helping us become more active. We look forward to her support.
There is a suggestion that we hook up with Runnymede and Haywards Heath groups to host a joint China/Hong Kong event. Steph has had confirmation from Paul Wong about him talking about HK at our October session, so we're needing to understand how we bring in other speakers. It'd be a great way to support one another and get a wider audience. We would love to bring in the wider Woking HK community into our group if possible as well.
Neither Steph nor Monica will be able to make the next meeting face to face so we think it's best to have the next meeting online, it saves someone having the having to bring a computer to the group meeting, set it all up etc. So, connectivity all being well, we shall look forward to seeing you all virtually on Monday. Let us know if you need the Teams link.
