Amnesty media awards 2013 to be announced on Tues 11 June at 10pm

Amnesty International UK will be announcing the winners of its prestigious annual media awards 2013 for human rights journalism at 10pm on Tuesday 11 June.

The awards event, being presented this year by BBC News’ Philippa Thomas, will see hundreds of journalists and human rights activists gathering at the BFI in central London to hear 12 awards announced in 11 categories, covering digital, broadcast and print media.

Amnesty will be live-tweeting the awards from @NewsFromAmnesty, using the hashtag #AmnestyAwards2013.

The coveted awards recognise excellence in human rights reporting and celebrate journalism that has made a significant contribution to the UK public’s awareness and understanding of human rights issues.

Shorlistees for an award this year include ITV News London on witchcraft in the Democratic Republic of the Congo, the Times on Syria, the Observer on India, and Channel 4 on the Paralympics. For the full shortlist, see: http://amn.st/15AdXsQ
