Coming soon: Sidelines – Amnesty International’s first ever football film festival
Amnesty International UK will be holding its first ever football film festival ‘Sidelines’ from 6-8 June - the weekend before the World Cup starts in Brazil - at Hackney Picturehouse in London.
It will be a weekend of thought-provoking films exploring themes ranging from the passion and fury surrounding football in Brazil, to the ups and downs of the Egyptian national side during the Arab Spring, to the non-Jewish Ajax fans in the Netherlands who call themselves Jews – as well as lively Q&A's and panel discussions, all with a football and human rights theme.
The festival is in partnership with Picturehouse cinemas and football quarterly The Blizzard.
Further details of films and participants, as well as a video trailer, will be released on Monday 28 April.
