Free Screening of North Korean film 'The Apostle', Shoreditch
In the week that the grim findings of a UN report into human rights abuses in North Korea are presented to the human rights council in Geneva, the International North Korean's Association for Human Rights and Democracy is hosting a screening of a film about religious persecution in North Korea at Amnesty International’s UK office in Shoreditch.
Christians in North Korea face beatings, torture and execution. The new film, “The Apostle: He Was Anointed by God,” by acclaimed South Korean Director Kim Jin-moo depicts the anguish of North Koreans who attempt to practice their faith in secret, and the merciless pursuit of them by the authorities who hunt them down. The film offers a glimpse into the complete control over the population that the leadership imposes. This will be the UK premiere of the film.
