Media advisory: Doha launch of report on abuse of migrant workers ahead of Qatar World Cup - Sun 17 Nov

Amnesty International will hold an embargoed press conference in Doha, Qatar on Sunday 17 November at 1630 hrs local time, ahead of the launch of its major new report The Dark Side of Migration: Spotlight on Qatar’s construction sector ahead of the World Cup.  

 

The report details the scale of exploitation suffered by migrant workers in Qatar’s construction sector - including those employed on multi-million dollar projects run by Qatari and international companies.



The press conference will be held under a strict embargo, which is lifted at 0001 hrs Doha time Monday 18 November (2101 hrs GMT Sunday 17 November).



A senior Amnesty delegation, led by the Secretary General Salil Shetty, will be visiting the country to launch the report. Spokespeople will be available for pre-recorded interviews and live interviews in Doha and London.
