Qatar: Major new report will expose labour abuse on World Cup sites
On 31 March 2016, Amnesty International will launch a major new report exposing the exploitation of migrant workers on World Cup sites in Qatar.
Based on interviews with more than 200 migrant workers, the report will for the first time document conditions for people working on a 2022 World Cup stadium.
The report will show how, despite limited reform efforts in the past two years touted by the Qatari authorities and FIFA, the country’s "Kafala" system under which migrant workers must be sponsored by an employer is still leading to forced labour and other human rights abuses.
Photographs, video, testimony from migrant workers will be available on request.
