Roger Waters' 'The Wall Live' tour to support Amnesty's work
During 2012 Roger Waters’ “The Wall Live” tour will provide support for Amnesty International’s campaigning on the Middle East and North Africa.
The singer, a longstanding supporter of the human rights organisation, is backing Amnesty’s campaigning on the region and Amnesty volunteers will be on hand at the concerts to give out campaigning literature and discuss the issues.
The Wall Live show is set to tour to Australia and New Zealand (starting in Perth on 27 January), continuing in Chile, Argentina and Brazil (ending 3 April) - details at: tour.rogerwaters.com br />
Roger Waters said:
“It’s very important to me to have Amnesty along on this tour talking about the dramatic events in the Middle East and North Africa.
“In some small way, I want to ensure that people who come to The Wall Live take away a sense that human rights matter and barriers between people and their rights need to be torn down.”
Jo Metcalf, Head of Art For Amnesty, said:
“The Wall concert is one of music’s great events and it’s fantastic that Roger is supporting Amnesty on this amazing tour.
“The imagery at the concerts is incredible and it resonates on so many levels with Amnesty’s work.”
