UAE: British pair should not be in jail for adultery
Amnesty International UK has reacted to reports that two Britons - Sally Antia and Mark Hawkins - have today been sentenced to a two-month jail term in Dubai for an offence relating to “adultery” accusations by saying the jail sentences are unacceptable.
Amnesty International UK Director Kate Allen said:
“Sally and Mark should not be in jail right now and should never have been facing criminal charges in the first place.
“Quite simply, the sex lives of consenting adults shouldn’t be a criminal matter. Sally and Mark should be released, immediately and unconditionally.”
