UK: Mozart birthday concert this Sunday
The composer’s birthday has been celebrated at the Queen Elizabeth Hall since 1984 with a varied programme of chamber music.
This annual concert has always been held in aid of charity and last year raised £8,000 to support Amnesty International’s work in defending human rights around the world.
Broadcaster Sue McGregor will introduce the 3.15pm concert, which is also being recorded by BBC Radio 3 for broadcast at 7.30pm on 31st January.
Taking part will be The Belcea Quartet, Kungsbacka Piano Trio, Emily Beynon, Elizabeth Watts, Andrew West and Llyr Williams.
Says Amnesty International UK Media Director Mike Blakemore:
"We’re delighted to be sharing the proceeds of this wonderful event with the Young Concert Artists Trust once again. It’s a marvellous opportunity to enjoy Mozart’s music while raising money."
