Wales: Cardiff marks Human Rights Day
On Sunday 11th December 2005 Amnesty International Wales teamed up with the local Cardiff Amnesty group to mark Human Rights Day (10th December). At 2.30pm volunteers met outside Boots on Queen Street equipped with candles and Protect the Human placards.
The candles were lit to symbolise the finale of the 16 Days of Activism. This has been a cause that Amnesty International has been supporting over the last few weeks. The candle lit vigil was a chance for supporters to reflect on the campaign to Women's rights's rights's rightss rights's rights's rights's rights.
Members of the Amnesty International Wales team taped their lips together as a symbol of the enforced silence prisoners of conscience suffer.
Other volunteers handed out leaflets and information about Amnesty International campaigns.
The event was a great success and we look forward to holding more thought provoking activities to expose and highlight human rights abuses in the future.
