Protect Amnesty India

Thanks so much to all those who took action to support our fellow activists at Amnesty India.

Thousands of Amnesty supporters across the world have called on the Indian prime minister, Narendra Modi, to stop the intimidation and crackdown on civil society.

Knowing that they have support from all over the world, our colleagues and fellow activists keep fighting to defend human rights and call out violations.

What happened?

On 25 October, government officials raided Amnesty India’s office. A similar raid on Greenpeace India took place earlier that month.

Both organisations had their bank accounts frozen – putting a stop to their vital work and stifling their right to freedom of expression.

We believe these actions are politically motivated.

Attacking activists, including our colleagues at Amnesty India, is unacceptable.
