Amnesty International UK Briefing on Gov NC30 to Border Security, Asylum and Immigration Bill (Conditions on Leave to Enter or Remain)

Government New Clause 30 is to permit an extraordinary extension of the conditions the Home Secretary may place on the permission (leave) that is given to someone to enter or remain in the UK.

The extension is to permit electronic tagging, curfews and other severe restrictions on daily life by limiting freedom of movement to be added to the ordinary conditions such as restrictions on work or accessing public funds that may be imposed as part of the basic administration of the immigration system.

This briefing highlights the exceptional nature of the powers the Government now seeks.
