Amnesty International UK & Migrant Voice Public Bill Committee Submission on Border Security, Asylum and Immigration Bill

This joint submission gives primary focus to matters of legislative repeal, border security strategy and related powers, which largely focus on deterrence and prevention of people and their journeys rather than on protecting them from persecution and exploitation.

The submission identifies the error, revealed at the heart of the Bill, of pursuing the same strategy as previous administrations albeit by means that differ to some degree.

The submission includes proposed amendments by which to explore this error and the opportunity to depart from the strategy by having proper regard to the realities and people most directly affected by the Bill.
