Amnesty UK Submission to the International Relations and Defence Committee on UNCLOS

This submission focuses on Article 98 (duty to render assistance) of the 1982 UN Convention on the Law of the Sea.

It emphasizes the need for greater international cooperation to fulfilling this duty and draws attention to the various ways by which the UK Government continues to undermine it, including by provisions of the Nationality and Borders Bill as these relate to immigration and asylum policy and irregular migration.
