Children's Human Rights Network - April Monthly Action
Vaness Gómez Cueva, a Peruvian national with residence status in Argentine for over 15 years was deported from Argentina along with her two year old Argentinian son in early February. She was forced to leave behind her other two children (aged 5 and 14), who are also Argentinian, and did not even have the chance to say goodbye.
The deportation order was based on criminal conviction for which Vanessa had served a sentence in 2014. In making the decision to deport Vanessa the National Migrations Office failed to take into consideration her current situation and the best interests of her children.
