Urgent Action update: One sibling acquitted, three are still missing, in UAE.

On 30 May the Federal Supreme Court in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) acquitted Moza ‘Abdouli of insulting the UAE, its leaders, and its institutions in tweets she posted in March 2013. Her three siblings remain detained in an undisclosed location.

Urgen Action update: Iran: 16-Year prison sentence for Narges Mohammadi

Iranian human rights defender and prisoner of conscience Narges Mohammadi was sentenced to 16 years’ imprisonment after her trial on 20 April. She suffers from serious illnesses and needs ongoing specialized medical care, which she cannot receive in prison.

Urgent Action: Eight Sudanese human rights activists detained

Six staff members and a volunteer from TRACKS for Training and Human Development and the visiting director of Al Zarqa for Rural Development organisation have been detained since 22 May at the office of the National Intelligence and Security Service (NISS) Prosecutor of crimes against the state in Khartoum, the capital of Sudan.

María Teresa Rivera, a Salvadoran woman recently released after four years in prison for pregnancy-related charges, risks being sent back to trial if the Attorney General decides to appeal the judge’s ruling that just set her free.
