Human rights defender and member of the stateless Bidun community ‘Abdulhakim al-Fadhli had his one-year imprisonment sentence followed by deportation upheld by the Court of Cassation on 16 May. He has been on hunger strike since his arrest on 18 April.

Iranian physicist and prisoner of conscience Omid Kokabee had surgery on 22 April to remove his right kidney. He has been diagnosed with advanced kidney cancer following five years of medical neglect in prison.

Urgent Action good news: Activist released from psychiatric hospital in Russia

Activist Dmitry Vorobyovsky, who had been taken to a psychiatric hospital on 6 May and subjected to involuntary psychiatric treatment, was released following a court order on 12 May.
