A federal judge in Mexico has ruled in favour of Indigenous rights defender Ildefonso Zamora who has been in prison since November 2015. The Attorney General should now accept that the case is baseless and refrain from appealing the ruling. This will be a key step towards securing Zamora’s release.

Bahraini human rights defender and prisoner of conscience, Nabeel Rajab, was arrested on 13 June. He has been charged with “spreading false information and rumours in the aim of discrediting the State”.

Canadian-Iranian citizen Dr Homa Hoodfar, a 65-year-old professor of anthropology, was arrested on 6 June following months of questioning by the Revolutionary Guards. She is being held in Tehran’s Evin Prison with no access to her family or lawyer, and likely in solitary confinement. She is a prisoner of conscience.
