Chadian activist Maoundoe Decladore Djikoldingam has been granted provisional release by an investigating judge pending an investigation into his case, and so that he can receive medical treatment.

Urgent Action good news: Unsafe refugee camps in Greece evacuated
The three refugee camps in the Elliniko area, Athens, were evacuated on 2 June. The majority of refugees and migrants still in the sites were transferred by bus to alternative camps.

Urgent Action: Saudi Arabian activist detained after deportation
Saudi Arabian human rights defender Mohammad al-Otaibi has been detained in Saudi Arabia since 25 May after he was deported from Qatar. He was travelling to Norway where he had been granted asylum. He is a prisoner of conscience.

Elderly human rights defender Dr Mohammad Maleki, 84, is being prevented from leaving Iran to visit his children in the Netherlands and Canada.

Urgent Action good news: Journalists cleared of criminal defamation in Timor-Leste
On 1 June, a Dili court cleared Raimundos Oki and Lourenco Vicente Martins of all charges against them. The two Timorese journalists were on trial on criminal “defamatory false information” charges filed by Timor-Leste’s Prime Minister in 2016.

Urgent Action: Activists held under administrative detention in India
G Thirumurugan Gandhi, D Arun Kumar, M Tyson, and Ilamaran were arrested on 21 May 2017 for attempting to stage a peaceful memorial for Tamils killed in the final stages of the civil war in Sri Lanka.

Robert Melson is scheduled to be executed in Alabama on 8 June. He was convicted on circumstantial evidence and sentenced to death in May 1996 for three murders during a robbery in 1994.
