Hasnat Karim and his family survived a hostage attack in a restaurant. They were taken into custody for questioning. His family were released, but he has not been seen since 2 July.

Urgent Action update: Two prominent bloggers detained for tweets in China

Two bloggers who compiled and released data on protests in China were criminally detained on 15 June 2016 on suspicion of “picking quarrels and provoking trouble”. They are at risk of torture and other ill-treatment.

16 of the 17 Angolan youth activists were conditionally released following the Supreme Court’s decision on the habeas corpus. Nito Alves was later conditionally released following a Constitutional Court decision.
