Racial Justice in the UK

No matter our postcode or our first language, we all want our rights to be protected equally by the law. That’s what makes a fair society.

But today, UK government policies like the "Prevent" duty and use of "crime predicting" technology by police target racialised people and erode their human rights.

The power to change this is in our hands. Human rights = Racial justice.

The Prevent duty and its chilling effect on human rights

What is Prevent? "Prevent" is a UK government policy. "Prevent" is the UK government's strategy to "stop people from becoming terrorists" is supposed to protect people, but in reality, it's doing the exact opposite.

Automated Racism

Amnesty International UK's new report found out that 3/4 of police forces across the UK are using technology to try to “predict crime”, but it is having racist and discriminatory impacts. It is automated racism. Learn more.

UK: Spying and policing of young children remains the consequence of Government's proposed new counter terror measures

The Home Secretary has announced on 17 December 2024 proposed new measures for children ‘suspected of being drawn into terrorist activity’ telling MPs there was “confusion” in the system and it was “not always clear to practitioners what kinds of cases should be dealt with under Prevent”. These include new legal orders which could restrict internet access and enforce compliance with the Prevent programme.
