Urgent Action: Police use tear gas on peaceful protestors in Colombia

Residents of the city of Buenaventura in Colombia have reported police repression, including the use of tear gas, at peaceful protests that began on 16 May.

Urgent Action update: Fate and whereabouts of two men unknown in South Sudan

Dong Samuel Luak and Aggrey Idri, were disappeared in Kenya and taken to a prison facility at the National Security Service (NSS) headquarters in Juba, South Sudan on 25 January, around midday.

Youth Group Action - June 2017

Human Rights Defenders Campaign – BRAVE

On 16 May 2017, Amnesty International launched a new global campaign, BRAVE, to strengthen the recognition and protection of human rights defenders around the world. The campaign is in response to the increased attacks and targeting of Human Rights Defenders, Activists and civil society organisations around the world. The campaign will run until the end of 2019.

Urgent Action update: Health concerns for detainees arbitrarily held in South Sudan

Three men arbitrarily detained at a prison at the National Security Service (NSS) headquarters in Juba died in February and March as a result of poor prison conditions and lack of appropriate medical treatment.
